Princess Marie♥ Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark: A Modern Times Fairy Tale

The crown prince Frederik of Denmark and his stylish princess Marie celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary today. The wedding ceremony was held in the Copenhagen Cathedral followed by the wedding festivities at the Fredensborg Palace. Mary’s sisters and one of her friends served as bridesmaids, while Frederik’s brother Prince Joachim of Denmark was the best man. Mary’s nieces were flower girls, and Frederik’s nephew was a pageboy. Love Story Princess Marie is from Australia, where they met during the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sidney. Prince Frederik did not want Marie to know that he was a prince instantly, so he introduced himself as “Fred”. He surprised her when he identified himself as the Crown Prince of Denmark at the height of their courtship. The couple became officially engaged on 8 October 2003 and got married on 14 May 2004. The wedding day Mary wore a wedding dress created by Danish fashion designer Uffe Frank. Mary’s wedding tiara was a gift from her parents-in-law, Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik. Danish heir Frederik was overcome with emotion at the wedding. As Mary walked up the aisle, the future King wiped away a tear and later declared to her, “From today, Mary is mine and I am hers. I love her and I will protect her with all my love.” You can see Princess Mary entering the church with her father on the video bellow. They have four children and are very popular in Denmark even in circles that have not traditionally shown an interest in the royal house. Although we did not plan, we found it a happy coincidence to launch the blog this day and believe it will bring us luck! Photo: Steen Evald

In August 2008 I left my native Brazil, my darling friends and family, and a promising attorney career to go after my dreams of a better world and take a master program in human rights law, in Sweden. A lot has happened since… and after living in Lund, Paris and Geneva, I arrived in Copenhagen, in the end of 2011, to share my life with my beloved Danish boyfriend, now husband.I used to be the kind of girl who planned traveling around the world, getting to know different cultures, maturing while exposing myself to the unknown. Honestly, I don’t remember ever dreaming of wedding flowers or dresses. Until… Well, until my cherished viking surprised me with the perfect proposal and we decided to get married...
